There’s More Than Water Coming!

While the Summit4water team has been focused on making sure the water line gets down to the Uraki School, our friends and volunteers have taken up another, but related, cause – bringing school supplies, clothing, shoes and sports equipment over to the children of the Uraki School.  One small idea for a few soccer balls has spread like wild fire!

Nan T. , Wendy O., Jake O. and Kristi O, have teamed together to collect all types of supplies for the Uraki children.  I offered to bring my trailer over today and pick up the supplies.  Wow, was I surprised what I saw when I got there.  The first 15 boxes that I gave them were all filled to the brim and they had enough additional supplies to fill 10-15 more boxes.  Unfortunately my trailer could only hold 1/2 of the boxes, but that is a great problem to have.  Some of the things the children and villagers will be receiving include:

125 pairs of tennis shoes, 75 pairs of men’s and women’s dress shoes, 6 complete sets of soccer uniforms for the school children, 60 soccer balls, 40 pairs of soccer cleats, 140 hats, 300 toothbrushes, 30 frisbees, 20 jump ropes, Mattel cars, and more that I can’t even think of.  These items will be packed in a container and shipped over to Tanzania.  I can’t wait to see the expression on the kids and villagers face when all of this arrives.

Summit4water is very grateful to Nan, Wendy, Kati and Jake for their efforts, and also very appreciative for Brady Corporation’s offer to ship the boxes over to the Uraki School for us.  The shipping time via ocean to Tanzania is 8 weeks, so look for picture in late June – July.
